Where can I read the subject?

If I log onto messenger and it pops up to tell me that I
have x number of messages.  However there are occasions

Every time I log off XP messenger logs me out as well.  AIM stays up
and active but messenger doesn't.  How do I disassociate what I do in
XP with what messenger does?

i just downloaded sygate firewall.since i am unable to
open messenger and hotmail howecer i try.the only way is
to disable the firewall.i checked ok everytime prompted
