Since I upgraded messenger to 6.2 it has not recognised my preference, i.e.

Do NOT logon when windows starts.
It also signs me in automatically, while I would prefer to do it manually.

Does anyone know the API to get the version of Messenger?

I try to talk to people but they say they never get my
messages. At first this only affected the messenger 6.2
and we used on older version to talk to people but not
that isn't working either. Has anyone else had this

I have just reinstalled win xp and I have not got my passwords for eney of my
web accounts so got them to send reminders to my 2nd web address which is a
hotmail account but the password to my account does not work (it must be a
random one as I have tried every combanason I can ...

I would like to check if anyone on my list has blocked me on windows

I can find checkers on the net but they are dutch and I cant follow them.

I am trying to communicate via audio and video with my
daughter overseas. Everything worked fine with Windows
Messenger. Then I foolishly had her install MSN Messenger
(to allow a bigger picture) and suddenly we could not

I have a problem with Audio Communication.
System Configuration (for both Workstations):
Windows XP SP2, MS Messenger 6.2
Connection to Internet via Router (MSN says UPnP is not restricted)

I accidentally deleted my message history on MSN then, deleted it from my
recycle bin. :(
Is there any way to retrieve those messages?
Any response would be greatly appreciated.

It doesn't matter how big/small my picture is, the
picture will only stretch out/shrink to fit in that tiny
square in the conversation window.

Recently I created a new hotmail account for myself which lasted a couple of
weeks and recieved email. As with my regular adress, I was notified of new
mail on the XP sign in page for all users. Under my name it said "1 new
message" and when you click on it it informs you you ...

They keep on saying go to my inbox and verify then I
get  NO email from them!!!!

Can windows messenger be repaired? If so please let me know how.

I am using Windows Messenger 5.0, but this problem began some time ago
with a previous version.
It seems that my contacts are continuously scrambled.  I mean, the
name and e-mail addresses don't match, the contact sometimes appears

After upgrade to SP2 my microphone works fine and person
receiving my voice receives transmission fine.  I have a
very big lag in receiving voice transmissions.

I've been able to use the chat feature on messenger but
not the voice feature.  I have XP Professional.  A
website suggests that if one user is behind a corporate
firewall (which I am), it may not work.  Is there a work
