It seems that I can receive files from another user, but cannot send them. I select "send a file or photo", it tells me that its waiting for him to accept it, he accepts it, and then nothing. i get an error message about a firewall.

I removed msn messenger 6.2 in error from add/remove programs. It has reverted to version 4.7 now. On trying to download 6.2 again I receive fatal error 1603. I then tries to remove all messenger from XP by running
