Uninstalled 7.0 reinstalled 6.2 could not connect, tried windows messanger and could connect, tried web messanger and could connect, tried re-installing 6.2 and removing and reinstalling again can not connect using xp sp2 norton

Is there a way to setup Windows Messenger (on Windows XP Pro SP2 PCs) so that my users would be able to communicate with each other only and the messages wouldn't have to go out through the Internet (for security reasons)? The only way this seems possible is to use Microsoft's ...

We need to allow two users to message internally and reasonably securely. They are currently using IM (but not Messenger) without encryption. Short term, it would be great to let them use %windir%\system32\WinChat.exe. But a quick test on XP SP2 fails, and I'm not sure why. ...

I recently installed the XP update KB887472 that updates the security of Messenger. I did not have messenger setup on my PC. However after the install Windows messenger 4.7 appears in my start menu under programs. Is this normal?

I don't want MSN Messenger to remember my password but it does and I can't figure out where to delete it. Please help me. I removed that user where it says to remove a user, but as soon as I restarted Messenger it was there

When SP2 starts it re-adds the Windows Messenger ie (C::path/Messenger/msmsgs.exe /background) value to registry even though its gonna sit in systemtray doing nothing, as I don't use it. No point in having things on the system if there not being used :) How can I fix this ?
