Windows XP, SP2, I.E. & O.E. I have a two small, what looks like green people in my systems tray with a red X through them. I can make them 'exit' but I would like to rid myself of the icon permanently. How?

Since I'm sure Jonathan Kay must be nearing his wit's end explaining how to keep Windows Messenger from signing in/how to uninstall it over and over- even though it means the end of a few MSN features... my question is: Why does Microsoft make one program dependant on the other ...

I want to develop a product that embeds either Windows or MSN messenger into the product. I don't want this to rely on the Microsoft servers, this is just for internal communication only. Is there a server product that would allow me to have a private messenger network?
