How does one find what types of codecs different software uses. How does one find if file is saveed in .wmv or .avi or .wav?  I use MyDVD and will try to learn Encore DVD. Does one have a choice to capture or save in one or another format or codec?

No i can't see wave patterns.  I did record the clips before and the audio
was fine (so it has worked) but after advice from this ng i am starting
again on a higher quality.

After editing a movie I can't successfully save back to the camera. The video stalls and/or I lose audio. I'm capturing and saving in the format best for sending it back to tape. I'm using a sony digital handycam, model DCR-TRV310

I need to be able to change the lenghth of a still picture
clip so  I can use a narration, or no narration with each
picture.  I want to adjust each picture individually.

I installed XP home ed. which included MM.  The purchase
included a disc to upgrade to Med.Pl.9 and MM2.  when I
try to install, it just keeps going through the install
wizard.  I can only enter MM, not MM2.

How can I record from Movie Makers via  my computers fire wire socket to simlar socket on my Philips DVD Home recorder. Tried to output as if it was a camera: Movie Makers knows there is a connection but I cannot record a signal.
