Hi, I have two computers having WIN XP service pack2, they r connected
to each other. IPs are 192.168.0.1 & 0.2, I can ping both machines from
one machine to another. I can use the Internet connection also in both
machine, without any problem.

We have 2003 Server network at the office. All the Windows 2000
workstations work just fine, however (all) the XP machines seem to lose
connectivity to network resources after X amount of time after reboot.

I am running Windows XP SR2 on my laptop. When I click on "My Network
Places" it takes in excess of 30 seconds for the information to appear. As
suggested earlier, I disabled the Registry item:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

Is there a way to bind a DNS entry locally on a client?
I am wanting to bind an IP of a server outside my local network by its IP
address so that programs can use its name to resovle the IP without needing
to change each entry in each program.
