Hi, I have two computers having WIN XP service pack2, they r connected to each other. IPs are 192.168.0.1 & 0.2, I can ping both machines from one machine to another. I can use the Internet connection also in both machine, without any problem.

I am running Windows XP SR2 on my laptop. When I click on "My Network Places" it takes in excess of 30 seconds for the information to appear. As suggested earlier, I disabled the Registry item: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

Is there a way to bind a DNS entry locally on a client? I am wanting to bind an IP of a server outside my local network by its IP address so that programs can use its name to resovle the IP without needing to change each entry in each program.
