I am "in charge" of a peer-to-peer network of about 15 users. There is no server. We are all running Windows XP Home and Pro. For security reasons, I would like to be able to create some workgroups and limit file sharing to certain users.

My XP Pro workstation is a member of an NT4 domain where I authenticate and map drives. I also map a drive to another server which is in a Win2003 Active Directory. I have the same username on my NT domain and the AD but different passwords.

i got thrown into a network that was a total mess. it was only a 6 computer win2000 pro network (workgroup? domain? i dont know) that got about 200 worms/viruses/bad things a day. all the hardware was junk (pII, 64mb ram, 10yrs old, etc) so i got to buy/build 3 new machines

I use VPN trought internet to connect to my principal office, this computer is the mailserver for the other users. When VPN is active, the other users can't connect to mailserver because VPN connection needs use Gateway of remote network.
