windows xp home edition on network - access denied15 Dec 2005 17:09 GMT1
I have a W XP home edition set up on a window NT server domain.  All of a
sudden it get the error message - access denied, may not have permission,
check with administrator.  List of severs not available.
On my computer is downs the domain name on workgroup.   I have reconnected

I have two XP pro machines in a workgroup. There are two problems: one major,

My PC on my private network was not able to browse the internet until I
configured it's TCP with the IP address of the DNS server of my ISP. I should
not have had to do this.  I think something is wrong with my ICS gateway XP
PC. The two PC's cannot ping or net view each other ...

I had sometime back setup a ICS between my win2k and winXP machines,
and remember had given the ip of 192.168.100.2 to my XP machine. That
was a year back.
Right now I got a new broadband connection, and trying to set it up on

Can someone tell me what ports to open in Windows Firewall to allow access to
the Admin$ share?  Ever since SP 2 and the latest service packs have been
applied, I am unable to access the admin$ share on my network pc's---unless I
completely disable windows firewall.

"An error occurred getting the status of the last synchronization. Element

SP2, and regularly add a Notebook XP Prof, all via a Belkin 5 port Ethernet

I have smal lan with one "server"running windows XP.
After all the configuration, the other 02 other computers could see the
"server" and the drives already configurated for sharing. They can also map
the drives.

Peer to Peer network with 5 computers, a Mirra Backup drive, and a Dell
Switch.
Periodically if I click on View Network Computers 2 of them are missing.
