I have 3 computers in a workgroup, all 3 are running windows XP pro. The shared folders of this computer (A7v8x) cannot be accessed by the other two computers though this computer can accessed the shared folders of the other two computers.

I have been trying to help my uncle sort out his networking, over the phone, from his PC to laptop since he bought his new laptop. He purchased a network cable a couple of days ago (The blue ones) and connected the two. One runs XP Home and the other runs XP Pro.

i just wondered if, once i've set up my laptop to connect to the internet through another firewalled pc, do i need to run a firewall on the laptop. i ask because my laptop firewall is not YET letting e access the other pc until i relax the restrictions.

Is there any way to configure Windows XP clients to use a prefered DHCP client? What about using only VALID AND AUTHORIZED (ex: win2003) DHCPs? I need to prevent a malicious users from a installing a bogus DHCP server.
