There are two workgroups setup. The win2k pc's can see and access any pc on
either workgroup, the new xp pc's do NOT see the other workgroup. Any reason

I just purchased a Dell XPS400 running windows XP media edition to replace my
7 year old Dell XPS450 running windows 98. I installed (network software
installed onto the XPS400) a Netgear WGR614 54 Mbps Wireless Router to
connect the two desktops and my Dell Latitude laptop ...

My gateway tablet notebook won't assign an IP address when no network
connection is present.  APIPA (Automatic Private IP Adressing) didn't work.  
I had a network drive mapped to a shared folder on c: drive, and it won't
connect if no ip address is available.
Can not map network drive on DLink DSM-G600 automatically in Win XP16 Jan 2006 19:04 GMT1
The problem was resloved using the following command in DOS:
DOS COMMAND:  net use q: \\dsm-g600\share /USER:WORKGROUP\admin
We had no problems with the computer running Win2000.
