I just upgrade from a Windows Me machine to a Windows XP machine, and

Problem:  Entire network drops, IP addressing from wired/wireless
router stops.  IP 169.n.n.n on all workstations.  All connections on
router and switch are good and lit.  Normal activity seen on both the
router and switch.

At home, I have certain users (my kids) set up that I want to lock out of the
internet entirely.  Is there a way to password protect any internet
connection?  Right now all I've done is delete any icons that will get them

I have three computers on my home network.  They are all connected
through a D-Link DI-524 which supports my DSL connection.
1'st computer: is a new HP 1240n running WinXP Media Center (and this is
