I have 2 desktop computers networked together using the ethernet cable. One is connected to the printer/scanner/fax. The other computer is able to print through the first computer. Both computers are able to shared files. Therefore networking is fine between the two.

What's the difference between sharing a hard disk on XP Pro and creating a Network Place to put the HD on the network? Obviously the icon is different. Which is "better"? I'm particularly interested in enabling Macs to access the shared drives.
