Windows XP can't get online even with an IP address!!!08 Feb 2006 20:18 GMT2
Here is the story -
I have a tenant who has a laptop running xp pro who can get an ip address
from us and can ping internal machines (dhcp, dns, etc.) but can't go online.
The internal windows firewall is not the issue (does samething with it off).
Can't map between 2 Windows XP pro machine08 Feb 2006 19:52 GMT2
Both machines have all the updates.
When I try to map the shares via Windows Explorer, tool, Map, I get an
error message
A device attached to the system is not functioning.

Two computers both running XP Prof. connected to Belkin wireless router all
on 192.168.3.0 subnet.  File & Printer Sharing enabled and MS Firewall turned
off on both machines.
I cannot access shared folders/files between machines.  I cannot even ping

I'm using windows xp x64, and have installed the latest drivers for my
onboard lan card, the motherboard is an arsock nf4g sata2 ...
The problem I have is that my network connection worked normally since one
day it decided to stop working.

In my college network,all the hostel blocks are connected to one
server. I  can ping to the computers but cannot view them in network
neighbourhood. Each hostel has a different internal network(that is,

Basically I want to automate connecting to my Office VPN, modifying route
tables to enable browsing while I am still connected to my office VPN.

When the corporate notebooks are off the domain network (out of the office)
they take around 30 mins to log into the laptops.  
Normal speed up until the logon fields.  Then once placed username and
password it takes about 30 mins to get into the laptop.
