When Windows (XP) starts up and I log in, mapped network drives are not accessible until they have been "browsed". I.E. if I open QuickBooks or any other application and select a "Recently Used" file that exists on a mapped network drive, it says the file is not accessible. ...

You can remove the error "Could not connect to network drives" by removing the registry key entry as follows: start | run | regedit navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Network/<ShareName>
