I used to be able to send files to a shared cd-rw drive. I recently bought a new pc and I can longer do this.When I try to send a file to the shared cd-rw drive I get access denied error. Both machines are XP Pro in same workgroup. Any help?

After making a change to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts, how do I get XP to see the changes short of logging off or rebooting? I've tried restarting every service that looks even remotely related. (And quite a few others.)

All hardware checks out OK. (Tried different ethernet card, no change.) Internet access OK for other computers on home network, but I can't access internet or other computers. I think some TCP/IP files may have been deleted. CAT5 cable OK (works with laptop).
