After performing a clean install of my operating system which is Windows XP Home version, I notice that the Boot.ini tab was missing on the utility box. What causes this problem and how can I correct this. It appears that everything else is went okay with the clean install

Is it possible to change the Node Type of a NIC card? The laptop on the network, ipconfig/all, says it's HYBRID. The desktopm with XP PRO says UNKNOWN. This used to have 2000 and was DYNAMIC.

Im gettin an ip number like 169.254.x.x and no connection to internet. The event logs says about a problem on DHCP service, but its started. Tried stopping it and starting it again but nothing happens (same problem) The last thing I did before getting this was uninstalling ...
