Have random clients on the network  pick up an old dns ip address of
192.168.1.6.  This setting overrides all other settings to define dns servers
such as dhcp server options, dhcp scope options and suprisingly GPO (domain).
Don't understand why these clients are pcking up this ...

I have 2 computers I am trying to network. I can see #1's file through #2 but
I get the error message when I try to look at #2's files through #1. I have
tried truning my firewall off on #1 but it doesn't help.

I have several PC's on my home network and one of them has a shared printer.
Some of the other PC's can map to the PC with printer by its name, others
can only map to it using it's IP address.  I'm sure that the ones that can
only map with IP address have something configured ...

I am having trouble with a new XP-based laptop not being able to access

I have installed IIS and followed instructions in article 284931 posted on
the Microsoft Web Site.  I checked and found I did install the latest
version. I still can't connect to my home computer via the Internet.  Any
suggestions as to how I can start debugging this situation.

Here is the information from several computers that are having trouble
with NetBIOS resolution.  shares do not work with Netbios names, but
they work OK with IP addresses.  They are behind a Netgear WR614Gv4
wireless "router".

Does Category E cable mean Gigabit Cable. If yes then can we use Gigabit
cable to make Lan or it should be used for connecting Switches only. Because
somebody told me that this cable can create problem because of the heat and
different things if we use it to connect pcs.

I set up thro wizard, now trying to access each pc. Asking for password and
username. I never set up a user name and password. How do I gain access to

I setup a simple 2 PC network via a switching hub. 1 PC has a USB DSL modem
which is shared. FTP access no longer functionings suddenly. I have tried
turning off the firewall, deleting modem, no netwrok bridge etc. I can ping
the server address, e-mails are normal for both PC's. ...
