XP Home: at start up, tcpsvc.exe sucks up 50% of the CPU. I can shut it down with Task Manager and still use internet. What am I missing? How can I prevent this?

when I click on network neighbouhood explorer only opens after 5-6 seconds, teh system being at that time also slowly responsive. What should I look at ? There has been a time where it was faster. No idea what could have changed since.

I've noticed on my WinXP Pro machine that the performance will degrade at random times. It usually happens when I impatiently "login" to XP just after the login screen displays. If I wait a few minutes and then login, the performance of XP is "normal".

When I leave my computer on for a while without using it, and then try to go on the internet, it won't do so and says it cannot find the server. How do I make it look for the server automatically? I have XP home and use Mozilla for email and the web. Thanks in advance.

Folks, Thought I'd use my PC's Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) facilities to allow internet access to our Xbox 360. I plan on doing this using the previous defunct onboard NIC in my PC.
