I have two machines, let's call them Desktop (XP Pro) and Laptop (XP Home).
I'm trying to set up a wired network through the router.
Network Setup Wizard went through all the steps fine. The computers are

How can I find out why I cannot ping a XP host on a LAN?  On the target
XP host, the firewall is disabled and it can ping other hosts on the
LAN.   Is there any other way to refuse ICMP request on a XP host so
that I can change the configuration to permit it?  Thanks.

I am having trouble connecting a new computer to a network that has been
working fine. All computers can ping each other with an ip address. No
computer can ping the problem computer with its name. The problem
computer can not ping any other computer with their names.

I have a desktop and laptop both running XP Home SP1. Both connect to the
