Sorry if this is a double post - hit return by accident! Based on the suggestions given for a prior post I made re: providing access to a game server from both the LAN and WAN, I setup my game box as follows:

Functionality: PC1 can access files in the shared folders of both PC2 and PC3 PC2 and PC3 can access files in the shared folders of each other PC2 and PC3 can not find PC1 on the network.

I just got a brand new box with dual core (the works). I have a Linksys router and set the old PC and new to the same workgroup name. Great I can see the other computer and can copy the files to the new PC. It is unbearably slow. I could burn DVD's and transfer faster.

I am looking at a setup which has 3 pcs running xp home across a network. The network is created via an adsl wired modem/router. 1 of the pcs is used for the general file storage which are accessed from the other 2 pcs.

I have a laptop supplied to me by my employer, running XP Pro. This is part of a corporate domain so when I log in I have to specify a domain name. I have my own PC at home running XP Pro which is not part of a domain but a local workgroup.

when i add a password to the "supervisor" acct it disables the networkd drive. if i remove the password from the acct, then the network drive is accessbile. why does this occur and is there a way to fix it?? thx.
