When I try to navigate to network resources using Network Places, it takes a long time but eventually it does get me to my network shares. However if I know the UNC path and type it in the Run window, the network share opens up quickly. How do I fix this?

I finally (don't know how) got my winXP talk to Win2k via LAN. However now everytime XP is asking me password for administrater when it boots up. I would like to remove this step even if I have to uninstall the network. But I seem nto be able to undo it. Please advise.
