Hi all, I asked this on June 14 and then reposted it a few days later.  I am
still waiting for a reponse.  The basic problem is due to some kind of
corruption above the IP layer in which even though I have a valid IP address,
I am unable to migrate my PC from one wireless network ...

I have a Dell laptop. Under User Profiles I saw two names, one as guest
and the other as, I suppose, the Administrator, all bearing the same

From time to time I've found that shared folders will share OK to another
workgroup PC ... but if it's a folder that's not a pre-existing one (like My
Documents; My Pictures, etc.) ... then the subfolders in that folder will
not be available for sharing ... unless one painstakingly ...

Background
- I have a new laptop with XP SP2 installed. All updates applied etc.
- I have a win 2003 server with all latest updates applied etc. It is our
print server.

I just got a new computer and would like to transfer my files from my old to
my new computer. Both computers have Windows XP and both are on my home
network. I'm not computer savy but I can follow instructions. Well most of

cant find the text i updatet om a webpage and don´t want to write it all
again, when i did push next to register/save the text, it was gone, where om

Hi, I have an 80 gig harddrive and it's partitioned into two drives C and D.
The C drive is allocated 20 gigs and the D drive has the rest. My system is a
sony vaios and it was configured this way when I purchased it.  My problem is

I have setup a home network, a local desktop wired to a router and a laptop
wireless to the router, router is connected to a cable modem. Both run XP
Pro, latest updates. Both are set up for "simple file sharing". Both have
anti-virus & firewall software running (supplied by ISP) ...

I happened to run "diagnose connection problems" from the IE7 Tools menu. I
got error messages as follows:

Here's a weird one for experienced sysadmins out there.
Company has an old NT 4 network. File server is a Win2000 member server
which has been decommissioned and removed and replaced with a Win2003 member

I have tried connecting it to my home network. I got "limited

when I  "IPCONFIG" the laptop I could see it has an "Autocofiguration

I have a home LAN (192.168.1.xx) of WinXP boxes, on which is a device
(linksys music bridge) whose address I've "lost". I'm hoping the "lost"
address is a 192.168.1.xx address, but I'm not even sure of that, see
below. I do have the MAC address of the device.
