My network has seven computers on it and i have some folders  shared on it
but i would to password them because i dont want my kids to access them. I
have read that it can be done . I have winxp pro on two of my computers and
win xp on the others.

Just wondering if there are any ways to speed up copying files across my
network. Especially small files. I can hit 25% throughput copying large
files, but small ones can drop the throughput below 1%.
Switch is gigabit. Both PC's are running onboard gigabit adapters... nVidia

I want to leave my laptop be in a workgroup but i was wondering if

I have winxp home with 256 mb ram.Whenever i type an address wrongly in
