I've been trying for the last two days to network my two computers. All I have successfully achieved is that I can ping the desktop from the notebook. The notebook cannot access the internet or any files on my desktop. The desktop cant see the notebook at all.

Im having problems with my internet connection. When i start my browser it takes a long time to display the start page. Then I can browse 4-5 web pages in a row with incredibly slow loading speeds. Then when I click a link/type an url i get the "page cannot be displayed" message.
