Hi, Imagine one is connected via VPN. Should I expect that my clients receive all group policies if they were in the LAN network? Is SMS going to work if people are connected via VPN?

I have a network of three Windows XP Pro machines. All machines are in the same workgroup, with no firewalls enabled and no weird configurations. Two of the computers network fine, able to access all shares/browse/etc.

I have a setup where several machines running Windows XP Pro have access to directories setup on a Windows 2003 Server. Offline Folders have been enabled and the XP machines synchronize with 2003 on logon/logoff using Synchronization Manager.

I've noticed several event 53 errors on our DNS server relating to CertSvc (below). Due to the error message ("DNS name does not exist") I looked at our DNS, and found that the workstation is creating its own folder!? So we now have:

When I go to Control Panel=> Network Connections, I see 2 entries: Local Area Connection, which is Windows firewalled and Internet Connection gateway, which is not. How do I firewall that connection? If I disable it, I can't get to the web.
