We have problems with some of the PC's on a school network, they are joined
to the domain, they can see the network, and they can access files on the
server. The settings are the same as the other PC's such as the proxy
settings are the same so it should work, but we don't ...

Hello I am trying to setup the home network with XP Home on  both Pcs . The
problem is even though farely new PCs neither had the floppy disk drives.
When I try to run network wizard it only uses the floopy? Is there a way to
do this with cd rom drives?

Cannot access hang-on USB drives via LAN, even from that
computer itself when looking at them via the LAN.
I can see and use them fine in the normal Windows Explorer
(File Manager).

I am getting a ip address conflict at work on a laptop. i do a continual ping
on this ip address from another computer and when i disable the laptop card
it still keeps pinging. Then on the laptop i do a ipconfig /registerdns and
then disable the card then the continual ping will ...

I have one computer in the office giving me some problems.
This Computer is part of a domain, can ping all other stations by IP and name.
Can surf the internet and sharepoint sites, can also connect to Exchange

I can only stay connected for a few minutes. I will get a long pause with
hour glass
and then cannot find server. This happens within 5 minutes. I have to reboot
to get connected again. I have had norton and mcafee but uninstalled both I

i've been looking around the newsgroups and still couldn't put all the
pieces together. it looks like i could spend hours reading on the net

   I have two PC's: a midtower and a laptop both with XP Pro SP 2. Laptop
accesses network via wireless with dhcp. Midtower is plugged into the same
device (wire/less router) and too uses dhcp.  Midtower can access resources

I use Briefcase to synchronize folders between two machines. I find that if
the source machine is shutdown, the briefcase machine takes a few minutes to
display the contents of the folder.  Any idea why this is?
Also, I thought I would try SyncToy, but it requires I install .NET
