Can anyone point me to a solution to this problem which has only been occuring for about a couple of weeks: After XP has been running for a time (say 24 hours) it loses the capability to resolve internet addresses.. IE/Firefox just say "looking up xxx.." OE

I have a computer which will not load web pages. If I ping a site or tracert there is no problem. I have tried netsh int ip reset and netsh winsock reset catalog Netdiag indicates no problems

I've been asked to look at a laptop which has got a problem with the wireless connection. The Windows wireless utility shows that it is connected to the wireless network but it is constantly acquiring an Ip address and cannot connect through to the Internet.

found some windows machines in my network that block all incoming packets but still participate in browser elections and win? At least "nmap -p 139,445 141.41.98.152" tells me that they are filtered. Is this possible?

every so often, maybe every other day, my XP desktop loses its connection to the router. All other machines on the network are fine whether wired or wireless and a reboot fixes it. The desktop uses a fixed IP address. Any suggestion I might try to fix it?
