I need to re-install XP Home on a laptop, but the CD drive is broken and

This is a very odd problem that I am having.  I have a network domain with

In my network places, I cannot view any computers, including my own. On the
other computer I see both and can access files as well. What is wrong has
baffilled me? It was working at one time. I've shut down any programs I
thought might affect it as well as to disable firewalls ...
