workgroup File sharing problem XP SP208 Feb 2008 18:58 GMT2
Summary: I wonder if anyone can help with this strange problem. The
networked-shared folders in one of 3 PCs on a workgroup are not displayed in
ANY of the "My Network Places" windows, but they are accessible by clicking
on "My Workgroup Computers". The other 2 PCs network ...

I've been searching on google for a good solution for my problem,
but I've been unable to find one which works.
For some reason browsing network shares to my Intel SS4000-E (NAS drive)
is extremely slow from a fully updated and freshly installed XP SP2.

I have assigned permanent IP to the LAN card (WinXP). Run some services
bound to this IP.
But when i disconect LAN cable, WinXP lose IP address and all my services
stop working. Even no ping to self IP, nothing in  Ipconfig /all  also.

I was surprised.  My D-LINK router is supplying the addresses
192.168.0.100 and 192.168.0.101 for my two machines and has been for

After running Disk Cleanup and Compression (to recover disk space), I can no
longer ping my own computer on Wired (100BaseT) or Wireless (Netgear MA111)
port. However, it does seem to work if I ping 127.0.0.1.
I tried loading "WinPcap_2_3_nogui" that used to work before the "Disk

My Thinkpad XP Pro laptop has stopped responding to ping requests.
Network connections seem otherwise normal: I can ping other computers
on my network, I can see the laptop and its shared files from other
computers, etc.
