For home networks (like Linksys), my understanding is the router usually automatically sets IP addresses (internal network, I assume, and I think it's called DHCP), and they generally (unless changed) have default addresses format of 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.150.

I have 2 wired desktops and 1 wireless laptop using a Linksys 54g router. All comps. can acess internet and printer on network with no problems. I can access the shared folders on the desktops from the laptop , but I can't access the shared folder on the laptop from the desktops ...

I would appreciate if anyone could let me know wether it is possible to block a specific address (wesite) when using Internet Explorer. I am aware that you can adjust the 'rating' to block certain content but rarther than do this I would prefer to block a specific website so this

On my daughter's Windows XP SP2 system, when you go to the Network Connections applet, it's completely empty. Her networking is working, i.e., she can connect to the Internet, browser other machines, etc., but there are no "Local Area Connection" icons.

I recall possibly reading something about it's best to "disable SSID" on a wireless network, for security (or max security). Questions are... 1) How handle SSID broadcast? Isn't it necessary while setting up a wireless network for the Wireless

When I am in my XP system and I try to save a file on my Vista System I get an access denied halt. I can move anything I want from Vista to XP but not the other way around. I don't know what the issue is there. Can you help?
