I have a Dell B120 Laptop. It was plugged into the wall and DSL internet during a thunderstorm. I heard a pop and now cannot connect to the internet. The laptop still recognizes the card but when a cable is installed it still states a cable is unplugged. Is the card bad? I

I am trying to get a small peer-to- peer network set up for file sharing. I can get everything working with the ipx/spx protocol but not with tcp/ip. There are 4 Windows XP Pro computers connected through a Lynksys router and a DSL modem that connect to the Internet fine.

I have W2000 server and added a new XP pc, but only want it to have access to the Internet and not the shared folders on the server. I did not add a user name, just connected the PC and assigned it to the WORKGROUP. IP's are automagically assigned.
