Is it possible to set up a LAN before I have a cable or DSL modem available. I would like to network a wireless laptop and two desktops using a Linksys wireless 4 port router before I subscribe to a cable or DSL service then at a later date add the cable/dsl modem.

I have a network of xp pro computers all with service pack 2. One computer (FAULTY) is not responding to any ping messages or connection open messages from other machines in the network. I can ping to other machines from that FAULTY.

I have a network with a mix of xp pro and home computers all with service pack 2. One computer which is xp home, can access the shares on other computers but no other computer can access its shares. This computer is running avg free and avg antispyware free version.

We have 6 PCs that seem to be networked to each other successfully under XP Home. However, upon installing a network printer (that appears as a PC under MS Network) we now seem to have problem connecting. Also, we have an Apple and 2 laptops that can connect wirelessly.
