I have just attempted to set up a home network and found that my laptop has no shared documents folder. Can I recreate the folder without having to do a full restore? The laptop works fine in all other respects running office and 3rd party applications. Just no Shared Documents ...

Despite what browser you are using, you need to start IE and go to Tools - Internet options - Connections. Propably "Always dial my default connection" will be marked, the connection being your VPN. Change this to "never dial a connection". Problem solved.
