i have no volume at all.......i rebooted, checked my
speakers connection and my settings.....
when i went to control panel and sound and audio
devices....it says i need to install the volume control

Not sure if you can help me or not.  My daughter is
running windows xp and we have 2 problems:
1)  we can't double click on desktop icons to open them.
we have to right click and then click 'open'.

when I load my quick launch toolbar there is no desktop icon in it. How can
I install one or how do I view the desktop while running other programs? (I
have only just upgraded from 98SE and still feeling my way around.)

I have Win XP-Pro installed on my system and when I tried
to download various security patches a message indicated
I was not a valad or authorized user? I pulled up info on
my copy of XP and found a Product Identification number.

When windows XP was installed the guy doing it did not
have his whole act together and he entered my Name
spelled kari instead of Keary and I want to change
this!!! Can anyone tell me how. I do not want to reload
