i have no volume at all.......i rebooted, checked my
speakers connection and my settings.....
when i went to control panel and sound and audio
devices....it says i need to install the volume control

autocomplete does not work in windows xp home and  i
cannot save passwords in outlook

Not sure if you can help me or not.  My daughter is
running windows xp and we have 2 problems:
1)  we can't double click on desktop icons to open them.
we have to right click and then click 'open'.

I just created a new user for myself and it does not give
me the "my computer" file and this really frustrates me.  
Can I get this onto my account from my parents?
Also, I wanted to know if I could uninstall some programs

Can anyone tell me how to check if windows has already
been installed on a laptop?

when I load my quick launch toolbar there is no desktop icon in it. How can
I install one or how do I view the desktop while running other programs? (I
have only just upgraded from 98SE and still feeling my way around.)

I have Win XP-Pro installed on my system and when I tried
to download various security patches a message indicated
I was not a valad or authorized user? I pulled up info on
my copy of XP and found a Product Identification number.

I have just upgraded from '98 to XP.  In OE Address Book,
under 'New', I no longer have the option to create a new
folder.  Is this normal for XP

I'm setting up a new XP system in my network (my servers
are running NT). I have and account with the user
name "Melissa" and XP does not allow me to use this as a
user name!!. Is there a way to let me use this user name

I have tried to save Excel 5.0 spreadsheets (files) from
the internet, but I do not know how to get them open!

When windows XP was installed the guy doing it did not
have his whole act together and he entered my Name
spelled kari instead of Keary and I want to change
