Occasionally I have a file icon placed on my desktop with
only the symbol ~ underneath it.  What's up with this and
how do I prevent it.  It's just an icon of a folder with
this tilde underneath it - doesn't point to anything,

My problem is that I recently changed my screen resolution from 800 by 600 pixels to, 1024 by 768 pixels, as a result

Having pasted in the files I saved before doing a format, I find that every
time I try to remove Read-Only from Properties, it automatically reinserts
itself, preventing me from making backups or adding to files.  Any
suggestions?

I've installed OpenOffice on my Admin account, it works perfectly.  I would like to use it on my regular account which has limited access.

Is there a way to run Remote desktop (or a similar, free
program) between an XP Pro system and a 98 SE system?  
The home PC is XP Pro, remote "connector" would be the 98
SE.  I've heard for Remote Desktop to run they both need
