I'm setting up my daughter's new PC that came with XP Home. I don't use that
OS but use Win98SE instead, so XP is quite foreign to me. Now...whenever I
open Windows Explorer and try to list out all the files in the <c:> root
directory, I get a listing of several folders with strange ...

Hi there, WinXP Pro crashed, would not even go into safe
mode to allow file to be moved so I ran setup to see if I
could perform a "replace and repair" but the option was
not available to me.  All I could do was select "L" and

I have XP home edition. I have problems with the taskbar. I cannot turn off
the 'language' toolbar.
I know how I am supposed to turn it off, I know how to lock / unlock the
taskbar and have tried all these things, but whenever I restart my PC the

I have user accounts for family (limited access) and when
they log in they can not access installed programs
(games).  Do I have to set access rights? and where do I

Yesterday I upgraded to XP from Windows 98.
Now in IE I get this message (about every 5 minutes) and
it closes the program.
Anybody have a suggestion?

After upgrading from Windows 98 to XP and deciding to
stick with XP, what files can be safely deleted?  I know
the upgrade allowed for reverting back to 98 if needed so

I don't know what you will think is dumber, uninstalling my McAfee
anti-virus software or paying $50 for it in the first place.  After
installing it, I couldn't stand the constant pop-ups and trying to figure
out what was important information and what was nothing but junk ...
