Just got a new machine with XP Home on it. Being used to 98 I am puzzled.
On my old machine when I stopped using it the hard drive remained inactive.

I had two users on my computer. I am hooked up to a dsl. I

longer listed and this was the only user with

I have upgraded to Windows XP Home.  Whenever I download
an XP patch or fix I save it to a "downloads" folder on my
hard-drive.  But when I go to install I get an error

here's a dumb question:
Why doesn't my microphone work?  Im using a soundblaster live value card and
have a microphone plugged in to the proper input.  In volume and recording
controls I have made sure that the mic is not muted. I have tried a second
