Since upgrading to XP, I no longer am able to view

Can a still digital camera, capable of recording movie clips and sound,  be used to in conjuction with windoes movie maker?

Does Windows Update list ALL updates or just the ones that apply to my
computer?  I notice that I get a lot of stuff to update that don't
really apply and I would think MS would be able to scan my PC well
enough to tell me what I really need...yes...no?
