I had to reisntall XP home over top of an buugy version.  
I chose to fix it, so Windows ended up created user
accounts that had the .windows extension added onto each
of the existing accounts.

I just bought a new xp pro computer and am trying to set it up so that I
won't have to enter a password or login when Windows starts.
Is it possible?  Right now, I have to click on an icon to start Windows
which is a bit of a inconvenience.  For info, this is for a standalone PC

Hi there, I've spent months trying to figure out how to tidy up the
Start Programs menu. I have 2 columns of programs. Programs I
installed when I first bought the pc are in alphanumerical order
followed by programs that have no folder, just an icon. Then there is

OK, I never could figure out how I lost my MS Office from
my ALL PROGRAMS display so I removed all the MS Office
applications and then re-installed them. MS Office now
appears in my ALL PROGRAMS display just as before.

1. I understand Microsoft's CheckDisk is actually a precursor of ScanDisk,
and I assume Microsoft retains CheckDisk for its efficiency. So, is it
necessary to run both, or are all of the ChkDsk test included in ScanDisk
(sfc /scannow)?

Pretty basic, I know...newby.  My WMP stopped saving files.  "Save as...", choose destination folder, dialog box scrolls, nothing saved in folder.  It was suggested that I reinstall WMP from my OEM disk, but I didn't see any intuitive way to get there.  Where is it on the disk ...
