I RECENTLY PURCHASED AND INSTALLED WINDOWS XP HOME

When my system (newly upgraded from Windows ME) boots up each time it launches 2 applications instead of just presenting me with the Desktop.  I am not sure why these 2 apps are launching but my sense is that they are recently used by me but not active when I shut the computer ...

OK guys this is the Error I keep getting.  It starts after I've been online
