I recently purchased xp pro to install on my comp. that
was running me.  I had nortons internet sec. running on my
old operating system.  When I did the xp install, I had it
do a new install that erased everything on my computer.

Thru stupidity deleted an empty exe file-C:\windows\system32\cpusave.exe-now need it back. Do I have to reinstall my Windows XP to my hard drive to get it back, or is there an easier way??

I am trying to tech support my mother long distance on a problem she's
having with her Netscape, and I'm stumped.  One problem is that she is
using Windows XP, which I don't have, so I can't see what she's looking
at on her screen.

I have an XP new install cd home edition (not upgrade).  
When I put in the CD in Windows 98, and start the
installation, it doesn't give me the option to "Upgrade"
windows 98.  It only allows me to do a "New Install"

I installed Windows xp pro over xp home.  After installing xp pro, my computer stated that several files didn't load.  Now each time I boot up, my computer asks for the xp pro cd rom, but doesn't complete the install.
How can I stop the computer from asking for the xp pro cd rom ...
