Hi  -  I've been digging all over the web to get a good backup solution
for my planned migration from 98SE to XP and I think this is a viable
backup strategy- does this work?
environment:  NTFS,  XP Home.

When I start windows xp home edition everything loads
correct until I get to the welcome screen.  The user name
icons don't show up anymore so I can't get to my
desktop.  Everything else on the welcome screen shows up

Can anyone help.  I use computer for digital photographs.  Until recently I
used to write the photos from my pictures using file and folder tasks
directing to the CD or by right clicking oon the folder.  the CD wizard used
to appear.

In the ongoing saga that is my computer....
Changed from Windows 2000 to Windows XP, and it wouldn't recognize my modem.
Downloaded the driver from Dell's website and still nothing.  I decided to
start fresh last night, and I reinstalled XP (the modem is still not there),

There are some icons in the Systems Tray that are of not much use, but am
unable to remove them. I do not see them in Startup. There are two such

Several weeks ago, I upgraded my son's WinME to XP Pro (and later added SP2).
All seems to be working fine.  As a result of an MBSA warning, I converted his FAT32 drive to NTFS.  Now I know that once I've made the conversion, I can't go back.  I also know that WinME won't work on ...

Everytime I put a data cd (jpegs) in,  XP autoloads all the pictures.
A box comes up saying autoplay and it seems to load every picture. Can
this be stopped.
Also I notice that I can now eject the CD and sometimes dirctcd box

harddrive and a fairly new digital camera. Recently, I
deleted over 1gig in photos from my harddrive, I emptied
