When I boot Windows XP and press F8, instead of safe mode, I get the option to change boot up to the various floppy and hard disks. Any suggestions. Thank you.

I had a unknown user logged on my computer listed in the system properties so I deleted it. Did I have someone using my connection? It's just a dialup. Did I get rid of it ? My internet surfing was getting slower.

i was using excel and now i cant close it. i tried detect and repair . after doing it a dialogue box that comes out to restart my computer but then it wont because i cant exit excel. what to do?

I tried installing MIRC 6.16 twice and it stalls at "extracting urls.ini" Tried it on my 98 machine and had no problem. Is there some setting in XP that can be causing this. The download file, a self installing exec, is for XP or 98.

Ok folks - I pull up windows explorer and click on the Folder tab, and on the left is nothing but a beige rectangle with an "x" (Close button) in the top right corner. This isn't what it should be - theres no folder tree of the drive, desktop etc.

On my laptop I run winXP pro. Discovered in the task manager that many instances of 'SVCHOST' are executing simultaneously and subsequently figured out that it is the result of many services.

Do I really have to have 3 copies of all folders in "My Documents" but in different places? 1) Desktop-- 2)my name under Documents and settings-- 3) My name under My Computer. If not how may I get rid of 1 or more? I am the only user of this computer.
