I  am trying to upgrade the OS from Win 98SE to Win XP Pro on a Dell
Dimension XPST800r. However I do not have the original CD-Rom for Win 98.
What is worse, I don't have the original Office 2000 CD-Rom. (Moved houses
and the Lord only knows where the CDs and all the manuals ...

I recently upgraded from 98SE -   I rarely ran a defrag under 98SE
because after I did, the system always seemed a little unstable for a

Something keeps changing my IE homepage to ads.revenue websites that are
trying to sell me things like gambling, tours, etc.  I have changed it back
each time in the "options" menu, but it changes it right back.  How do I find

number of partitions.  I understand that I'm supposed to do it through disk
management but I cannot locate it.

I have a file on my C Drive called "Internet Optimizer" with a round gray
logo with what looks like a hippo face in it. Can anyone tell me what this
is and do I need it? If I don't, how can I get rid of it.

In Control Panel, under User Accounts, I view Mary Catherine Muccigrosso,
Computer Administrator, Password Protected and Guest, Guest Account is off.
In System Properties, under User Profiles, I view Dell\Administrator and
DELL\Mary Catherine.

I am having a problem with my desktop icons on boot. They have to
redraw (reload) instead of coming from the cache immediately. The
cache DB is in Default \Application data Directory and it appears to
renew OK.
