Hi ...
When I launch a DVD in windows, a dvd player comes up.  I was trying to do a
screen-grab using ALT-PRT.SCRN combo.
But the paste turns out blank in my graphics app.

I've just bought a 'new' PC with XP pre-installed.
It had been sold previously and returned but Windows seems to have been
registered to the previous people.

My filenames have disappeared in my thumbnail window. Does anyone know how to

My system clock as I write this is 00:21 16/01/2004.  Yet, when this comes
back it is time stamped 8 hours before it is sent.
Any ideas please?

On re-installing WindowsXP recently I came across (of course it was there
all the time) the repair option.  Not knowing what was involved I chose the
long reinstall route. Can anyone point me to information / tutorial on the
various options at installing WindowsXP.

In older versions of Windows it was possible to press one of the F keys
to bypass Windows and go directly to DOS. Is it possible In XP (Pro)?
I don't mean going to a DOS window by clicking the command prompt in

my computer through Yahoo it does not display the box to let me. At the

Is there a difference between news.microsoft.com and msnews.microsoft.com?
Which should I use?
I originally set the server as news.microsoft.com but some of the Microsoft
web links cause msnews.microsoft.com to be used.

I appreciate in advance that my question is a general one and not directly
related to Windows XP but I cannot find a relevant NG to place this query.
When I subscribe to new Newsgroup all headers and/or messages submitted from
the end of May 2004 are downloaded.  Can anyone tell ...

When I try to download anything, I get an error message saying that I timed
out.  Does anybody know why this happens?  Everything was fine until I got
WXP SP2.  Any solutions would be appreciated.
