I have been trying for a few weeks now to get my speakers to work again. I have Boston Acoustic Digital BA735 with Sound Blaster Live! Value sound card. I have tried every patch and fix I could find and have even reinstalled XP! still no sound.

When My Computer opens ( by clicking Start, My Computer), there is a Folders button which toggles the contents of the left-hand pane between a folders tree, and a list of common tasks. By default it seems to always open in the common tasks view.

I have XP Pro SP1 and, after a lot of persuasion from colleagues, I eventually decided to take the plunge. I reinstalled my OS from the recovery disc (the laptop's about 3 months old) and installed McAfee VirusScan. I'm on ADSL behind a router.
