I downloaded and installed NIS on my Compaq, xp desktop.  
The pre-install scan found anc cleaned up a bunch of

I follow Microsoft KB 812930, and use the Registry Editor to delete the folder of Compress Old Files
The procedure works and my Disk Cleanup is working again
However, I did not Export and Save the Compress Old ...

When I try to download the update I need for the patch I
need to get rid of a virus on my computer (the virus is
msblast.exe) it will not let me onto the update screen. It
says:

XP is "hanging" when I go to power down the system.  It
goes through log-off and starts the shut down but will
not power off.  I've used the troubleshooter and also
reloaded xp.  Any suggestions?

For Windows XP repair using After "sfc /scannow", do I have to Reload SP1,
an other updates?
Or after a WinXP CD repair process, do I  have to Reload SP1 and will
WindowsUpDate reload all of the updates?

When clicking on the "my computer" icon or accessing it
from any other location it takes several minutes to open
showing all my drives and etc.  I can find no information

I have 2 XP OS's loaded on 1 machine and have run into a
driver accessability problem. The first operating system

says "Cannot find VB40016.DLL". What is this and how do I
fix it?      Also when I boot up I get another error
message that says "cannot find C:\Windows\Temp\MSETUP.exe
