I am installing a new virus scan and the directions
indicate that I need to perform a total system scan
beforeinstallation.  It says to change the boot drive
from "C" to "D" to enable it to boot from the CD Virus

When I try to save a .gif or .jpg file from the internet
my pc will only allow me to save it as a .bmp. Does
anyone know why this would happen or how to fix the

frequently.  But now, I have lost the ability to burn

I set up a new XP OS on my system (I can pick from one or
the other at startup) and it wants me to reinstall all my
programs on the new setup -- is there any way to avoid
that?

Control, alt, delete, but the task manager only appears
for a second or two, then disappears before I can click

In win 98 you could insert a startdisc an type fdisc /mbr. Is there a

Can't shut down, save.exe not responding13 Jan 2004 12:07 GMT3
I'm running xp home and I can't get it to shut down. When
I try I get a window saying " save.exe" shutting down,
then after the timer runs out  I get the choice to either
cancle or shut down, clicking either seems to cancel the

all screens, active page goes inactive after 35 seconds.  I have to click on
the screen in order to type or use the mouse wheel to scroll up or down the
page.  Does it again after another 35 seconds. Screen just won't stay active

I have been recieving this message on my screen during
shut down.  It stays for a few seconds but never long
enough to write it all down.  I know that the message
says something about memory in it.  Can anyone help me to
