When I try to save a .gif or .jpg file from the internet my pc will only allow me to save it as a .bmp. Does anyone know why this would happen or how to fix the problem? TIA!

I set up a new XP OS on my system (I can pick from one or the other at startup) and it wants me to reinstall all my programs on the new setup -- is there any way to avoid that?

Control, alt, delete, but the task manager only appears for a second or two, then disappears before I can click on any program running or not responding. How can I get it to stay on my screen?

Do?s anyone knows how to restore mbr in windows xp? In win 98 you could insert a startdisc an type fdisc /mbr. Is there a similar way to do this in xp? /Marre
