I'm running XP on my laptop and I've had nothing but problems with it. When I run certain programs, i.e. Adobe's Photoshop, it may run for awhile and then suddenly get a blue screen, memory dump error. Also my computer freezes without warning and just locks up. It does not reboot ...

When I run the XP built-in defragmenter, it tells me to defagment, but leaves many files badly fragmented. One file has 4000 fragments! (this file is c30Mb). Startup is S L O W, which is why I am trying to clean up my system.

I upgraded my memory to 512MB (from 256) on my Dell desktop (1.8g Pentium 4 , 30G harddrive) My XP Home recognized it and everything is fine and faster. It seems almost too easy. Is there anything I should/could do to take full advantage of the upgrade , or is it really this ...
